Anti-ageing or anti-wrinkle products must contain a slew of proven, scientifically evidenced ingredients, which have been shown to make skin look and act younger:

1/ Antioxidants (and not just a one “star” ingredient such as Vitamin C). I look to find at least 4 exciting antioxidants

2/ Skin-repairing ingredients such as a Vitamin A derivative known as a retinoid

3/ Cell-communicating ingredients, such asL-Lactic Acid, L-Retinol AGP, which are also DNA repair ingredients

4/ Soothing agents such as inflammation reducing Willow Herb

5/ Growth Factors

6/ Peptides

7/ For daytime use, I expect a sunblock to be a natural product and to be rated SPF 15 or greater with the right UVA-protecting natural mineral sun protecting ingredients

8/ For exfoliation, proven AHAs or BHA ingredients

I advise all my clients to dis-regard the name or description on the label of a product, and to make sure that they know their stuff. “Go straight for the ingredients” I say and don’t pay too much attention when you may come across any of the following terms being used to describe an anti-aging or anti-wrinkle product. For example, moisturizer, hydrating, eye creams, neck creams, anti-wrinkle, antiaging, lifting, firming, repairing, restoring, rejuvenating, advanced, and dozens more. What makes everything possible is this:

1/ what the product contains and by that I mean, the ingredients and technology used. I only advise skincare and drugs to be chirally correct, so the receptor sites of our skin cells recognise the ingredients and cause no harm to our skin face or bodies.

2/ I look at the formulation and how the combination of ingredients can benefit skin.

Extensive substantiated research has shown that certain groups of ingredients (most notably antioxidants, cell-communicating ingredients, and skin-repairing/skin-identical ingredients) can help skin anywhere on the body act younger, produce better skin cells, reduce environmental damage, build collagen, improve elasticity, and smooth wrinkles. Those ingredients in any product, regardless of the name on the label or the claims you read, can truly make a difference to the appearance of aging, sun-damaged skin.

After 26 years of clinical work and experience, Plastic Surgery Associates UK and The London Wellness Centre only recommend a few lines and all of them are chirally correct. They are; CosMedix, Results Rx, Société and Osmosis.
